Victoria Meléndez

Victoria Meléndez is an essayist and screenwriter based in Washington, DC. Her work reflects on her loss, doubt and identity to explore what it takes to be known and what it means to belong. Victoria holds a BA in English and Linguistics and a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Florida and an MA in Urban and Regional Policy from Northeastern University in Boston. She is a Voices of Our Nation 2023 Summer Fellow and a Board Member for the American Poetry Museum. Her newsletter & podcast, Finding the Words, honors and explores the loved ones, luminaries and pop culture moments that are giving her the language she needs to move through this ever-changing world. In addition to writing, Victoria also leads Sisterhood Sundays—a monthly writing group for Black women in Washington, DC. She hopes, above all, to tell good stories and help others do the same. Substack & Spotify: Finding the Words.
