Nwenna Kai

Nwenna Kai is the author of a raw vegan cookbook, The Goddess of Raw Foods, and a children’s book, The MoreLoves: Baba Builds a Sun Oven. She was awarded a 2024 Author and Poet Fellowship from the Martha’s Vineyard Institute for Creative Writing and is currently a poetry reader for the Chestnut Review for stubborn artists. Her poetry has appeared in Obsidian: Literature and Arts in the African Diaspora, Anti-Heroin Chic, Aji Magazine, Tipton Journal, The West Trade Review, and Bum Rush the Page: A Def Jam Poetry Anthology. Her creative non-fiction has appeared in Heart and Soul Magazine, Sacred Fire: The Power of the First Element to Change Your Life, and The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature.

In addition to our tri-annual anthologies and a literary journal, we publish works online, facilitate writing classes, and offer developmental editing services. To date, we have published 400+ Black storytellers across the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Asia, and Australia. Our Writing Program has served 600+ students since its inception. We are 100% Black woman-owned.
